Our story

Food should have a story worth knowing.

Zuriyat Foods grew from a simple belief: what reaches your table should come with an honest origin, a reason for being there, and knowledge behind it.

Soon Valley — 110 fruit varieties on trial. One of them was olive.

Our origin

Before Zuriyat, there was the research.

Olive was never an easy crop for Pakistan. It took more than thirty years of public research on barani land in the Pothwar and the Soon Valley to work out how to grow it here: how to propagate it, which varieties yield in our conditions, what the trees need, when to pick, and what the fruit can be turned into.

Zuriyat began with that last question. Years spent close to the research station, the orchards and the people who study food for a living gave us a habit we still follow: before any food earns a place on the table, ask where it comes from, what it needs, and what it gives.

The olive research described here is the work of Muhammad Ashraf Sumrah, Principal Scientist at the Barani Agricultural Research Institute, Chakwal.

  1. 1993 Olive reaches the station

110 fruit varieties are tested in the Soon Valley for the rainfed north. Olive is one of them.

The right harvest stage for pickling olives in rapeseed oil and spices is settled.

  4. 2021 Olive for the table

A national olive research centre in Chakwal, and an Urdu guide to the fruit's nutrition.

Knowing where food comes from matters.

Beyond olive

Our story began with olive.
It didn't end there.

The curiosity that started with one fruit — where it grows, what it needs, what it gives — did not stop at olive. It became the way we look at all food, and it now goes with everything we choose: oils and seeds today, and grains, honey and more as they earn their place.

The story behind the story

Food, knowledge and technology
were never separate journeys.

Zuriyat Foods grew inside a wider journey at Bit & Byte Lab. Research into food led to nutrition knowledge; that knowledge became structured data; technology made it usable in everyday life; and Zuriyat brings it back to real food on real tables.

  1. Olive branch and olives
    Research

It began with a simple curiosity: where does food come from, and what does it take to grow it well?

  2. Nutrition knowledge Sublime Care Cloud

Building the nutrition database behind Sublime Care Cloud taught us to read food beyond the label: what it contains, and what it brings to a diet.

  3. Digital food experience Sublime Groceria

With Sublime Groceria, that knowledge moved into the grocery list — the moment people actually decide what to buy.

  4. Zuriyat olive pickle
    Real food Zuriyat Foods

Zuriyat takes the journey out of the screen and onto the table: foods chosen with the same knowledge, made and delivered in Pakistan.

  5. Plum chutney served at the table
    The table

Because everything comes back to what we choose to put on the table.

Born within the Bit & Byte Lab ecosystem.

Different products, different problems — the same curiosity about how knowledge, technology and everyday life can work better together.
