Food should have a story worth knowing.

Zuriyat Foods grew from a simple belief: what reaches your table should come with an honest origin, a reason for being there, and knowledge behind it.

Knowledge in the family

Different paths. The same respect for learning.

Long before Zuriyat existed, learning already held a quiet place within the wider family. The paths were different — from traditional Hikmat to agricultural research, and later technology — but each reflected a habit of looking deeper and understanding things properly.

An earlier tradition of learning

Hakeem Muhammad Sadiq

Hakeem Muhammad Sadiq belonged to an earlier tradition of learning through Hikmat. He was a well-read man with a deep interest in the knowledge and books of his field.

His place in the Zuriyat story is not about claiming that he created our products or that traditional Hikmat validates modern nutrition. It is much simpler: he represents an earlier presence of learning and thoughtful study within our family.

A different path

The questions continued. The method was different.

His nephew, Muhammad Ashraf Sumrah, followed a very different professional path through horticultural science and agricultural research. His documented work would later include extensive research and development around olives.

Our origin

Before Zuriyat, there was the research.

The knowledge came first. The product came later.

Olive was never an easy crop for Pakistan. It took more than thirty years of public research on barani land in the Pothwar and the Soon Valley to work out how to grow it here.

Muhammad Ashraf Sumrah’s documented olive work covered propagation, nursery production, varieties, harvesting, processing and value addition, and technology transfer to growers. Being close to that work gave us a habit we still follow: before any food earns a place on the table, ask where it comes from, what it needs, and what it gives.

The olive research described here is the work of Muhammad Ashraf Sumrah, Principal Scientist at the Barani Agricultural Research Institute, Chakwal.

The knowledge

  1. 1993 Olive reaches the station 110 fruit varieties are tested in the Soon Valley for the rainfed north. Olive is one of them.
  2. 2007 The olive programme Four back-to-back projects: how to grow olive here, and what to make from it.
  3. 2014 The pickle, done right The right harvest stage for pickling olives in rapeseed oil and spices is settled.
  4. 2021 Olive for the table A national olive research centre in Chakwal, and an Urdu guide to the fruit’s nutrition.

The product

  1. 2025 Zuriyat Foods Olive pickle, jam and cold-pressed oil, made in Pakistan. First orders ship in April 2025.

Different disciplines. Different times. A shared respect for knowledge.

From books, to field research, to structured data — the tools changed, but the instinct to understand remained.

The present chapter

Today, the tools are digital. The questions still matter.

Today, M. Atif Ali brings a different discipline to the story. A full-stack software engineer and Founder & CEO of Bit & Byte Lab, he leads the technology and digital systems behind the modern Zuriyat experience.

His work connects the physical food brand with structured information, software and digital products — helping Zuriyat present food with more context than a product name and price.

That thinking extends beyond the storefront. Sublime Care Cloud provides the structured nutrition data used within Zuriyat’s product experience, while Sublime Groceria explores food from the everyday digital grocery side. Zuriyat Foods brings that thinking back to something physical: the food that reaches the table.

  • Software engineering

Building the systems behind the experience.

  • Structured food information

Connecting products with clearer nutrition and food data.

  • Digital experience

Making that knowledge useful and accessible to customers.

The Zuriyat way

From where it grows, to why it belongs.

One way of thinking runs through everything we make.

  1. 01

    Origin

We want to know where food begins.

  2. 02

    Knowledge

We look beyond labels to understand what food brings.

  3. 03

    Selection

We choose foods with a reason to be part of everyday eating.

  4. 04

    Your table

Good food only matters when it becomes part of real life.

Our food philosophy

Food with a reason to be on your table.

  • 01

    Natural ingredients

Food that stays close to what it is.

  • 02

    Nutritional value

Chosen for what it can contribute to everyday eating.

  • 03

    Honest origins

Knowing where food comes from matters.

Beyond olive

Our story began with olive. It didn’t end there.

The curiosity that started with one fruit — where it grows, what it needs, what it gives — did not stop at olive. It became the way we look at all food, and it now goes with everything we choose: oils and seeds today, and grains, honey and more as they earn their place.

The story behind the story

Food, knowledge and technology were never separate journeys.

Three independent paths, in different times and different disciplines. None was handed down from the other; they meet at Zuriyat.

  • Traditional learning

    Hakeem Muhammad Sadiq

Hikmat & a lifelong respect for learning.

  • Agricultural research

    Muhammad Ashraf Sumrah

Horticultural science and documented olive research.

  • Technology

    M. Atif Ali

Software and structured food information around the modern brand.

Where they meet

Zuriyat Foods

A present-day food brand built around knowing more about what reaches the table.

Born within the Bit & Byte Lab ecosystem.

Different products, different problems — the same curiosity about how knowledge, technology and everyday life can work better together.

Bit & Byte Lab

Good food doesn't need a complicated story.
It needs an honest one.

Zuriyat is the chapter we are building today — shaped by different people, different disciplines and a shared belief that what reaches the table is worth understanding.
